EC Stress

So, I don’t have that many ECs on my side. At all. The only one I can name is playing trombone in band all through middle school and my freshman year. I was in Beta for two years, but I wasn’t active at all. I’m signed up to do lots of volunteer work at a local shelter, though, and I’m thinking about joining my school’s earth club, which essentially works the school’s recycling program. I might join another club or two if I can find any I actually enjoy. I don’t really want to go to any “big” colleges, they just don’t really feel right to me. The college I’m aiming for (and feel that I’m pretty safe with getting into) is the University of South Carolina, which is only about 20 minutes away from my home, and run’s in my family’s veins, pretty much.

Are those enough ECs to get me into a fairly decent college? I’m a bit stressed about what counts as an extracurricular and what I can do to gain some more before the time to apply to college rolls around. I’m going to be a junior this year (2015-16) and I’m just kind of worried about how I’m looking as far as the ECs go. My grades are decent and my schedule is rigorous. If you know anything, what kind of hobbies count as ECs? I have a few outside of school, but nothing extremely eye-catching.

Thanks for all the help.

Also, I’m probably going to join beta this year… I’m not sure if that counts, though.
