Every summer i go to China for most of the summer so i miss out on most of the summer ec activities.. some summers i went back to school after a week getting back from china.

during the school year, its hard but i do have some ECs. piano (not too many awards maybe 2 or 3 regional ones), DECA club (went to state competition), Student council rep for Chinese club, around 50 hours of habitat for humanity

does that look weak? i think it does.... at least for the colleges that i want to get into such as WUSTL, NYU, JHU, Rice, etc (no ivies)

I do gain alot of experience everytime i go to china and i did a self reflection essay 15 pages about my experiences there the past 3 years. idk if that makes my summers "college worth"

If your applying to University of Minnesota- Twin Cities or Pennslyvania State University- University Park, they are more less likely to put pentalty for low ec’s due to so many situations of one.

may i ask when you go to china, shudnt you do something there?
like taking on some internship…or maybe start some fundraising venture for poor people in china…etc? or do you just do nothing and sir in the air conditioned room play games :)?

ECs are great. Not everyone has the opportunity to visit a whole new continent every summer. You seem to be really focused on China, but do you have the AP/SAT scores to back that up?

i think you should build a case for your time in China as an EC, maybe put it in your essay too. You have spent a lot of time there and it is much more exotic than what many others are able to do at home. Good luck!
