What are the differences between majoring in Eccon vs majoring in Bus Admin (i think i want to do finance/accounting)? I assume the job prospects are preaty similar but as far as the classes you take? And being prepared for the real world/working in finance/consulting/big 4?

Huge difference. Look at the "Major Descriptions" on collegeboard.com

Yea Ive read all of that stuff, but do you think that Eccon is better prep for gradschool but as far as going right into the workplace I would have a better practical/technical education with undergrad bus?

Job oppurtunities exsist for both business admin and econ majors I would say equally if not slightly favorable econ. Finance and accounting probably are slightly more in demand, than econ. but manangement and other areas probably follow a little behind. As far as the finance and accounting( they are intertwined) because most probably all schools require you to take Intermediate Accounting if you are a finance major, and some schools require Cost Accounting. So you will take a lot of accounting.

I haven't seen the Collegeboard thing, but from my studies I have found than Econ is more of a social science dealing with the bigger picture- firms competing, scarcity of resources, government policy, etc, whereas business is a little more practical in the sense that you study the practice of an individual firm. With that said, I think that business is a better major if you are not planning to go to grad school because of its practicality.

However, if you do plan to go to grad school, I think that Econ, math, statistics, or some kind of applied science- MBA route is your best option. MBA grads make considerably higher earnings that undergrad business majors, and there is really no reason to get an MBA if you do undergrad business as the curriculum would pretty much replicate your undergraduate experience.
