Hello ^__^ Taking a break from studying for my programing final LOL....so I'm currently a freshman in the ECE program (towards computer engineering) and I have a couple of questions:

1) everyone seems so happy to get a B or C. i've even seen other students dancing because they got a 55 on an exam 0.o what's the average GPA for electrical and computer engineering students? for freshmen? for sophomores? for juniors? for seniors?

2) what are the hardest classes in the program? i've personally heard that ee306 is one of the hardest classes but i don't really believe it....er....?

3) what are these "programming horror stories" everyone keeps talking about?

4) is ece really the hardest engineering department or are ece students being biased? lol. to be honest whenever i get together with other ece students we end up going to the library and studying some more so if that's any indication...

That is completely dependent upon you. There are several people with 4.0s and many more who fail miserably. Doing well is not impossible, but it will require a lot of work.

right now i don’t think that it’s not bad at all. i guess i just want to know what to expect in the coming years and some of the things that i’ve heard is starting to make me tense.

@iambored10 oh wow a 3.0? that’s so much lower than i thought it would be.

huh? so do you have a 4.0?
BME and ChemE are also considered to be among the most difficult engineering majors. Whether one is more difficult than the other is largely dependent on who is asking the question. As a EE, I would say that ChemE is much harder because it has, well, chemistry in it (something I do not really enjoy).

I’ve heard EE is just ridiculous. I’d rather do ChemE or BME (mine) than EE lol. BME was hard, but I was taking 20 hours and will end up with probably a decent GPA (~3.5) for some but bad for med schools. Likely changing majors for Spring semester as I HATE programming.

Every engineering discipline is difficult to some degree. A better question you can ask yourself is whether or not you would like to do the things that electrical/computer/software engineers do.
