ECE/Civil Double Major

Well, maybe I should introduce myself to this board. I am currently taking classes in ECE and civil engineering. I know, it's rough, but doable, I feel, especially with my planned out schedule. My goal is to become a professional engineer in the State of Illinois, possibly opening my own business or working for the Illinois Department of Transportation. My parents and I feel this is a good path if I want to be professionally licensed.

So I'd like to hear any comments from those who have experience with this type of major or majors. Is it crazy? Know anyone else who has done it, and if so, tell me about them. Any comments about this major or about how I can further go about getting engineering licensure would be appreciated.

It would be really hard to do both. just stick with one or the other both have good oppurtuities.

I think a two-engineering double major is a waste of time. You'll do a lot better by using that time to get a Master's. Do undergrad in one and a Master's in the other. You'll be much better off for it.

If you work harder in one I think it will pay off more. There is a such thing as spreading yourself too thin. Plus you wouldn't be able to graduate in four years definitely, maybe even 5 might be pushing it. But you said you have it planned out so . . . maybe you could try.
