<p>A couple months ago, the ECE department contacted me about applying for scholarships and stated that I would hear back from them sometime during the month of March. I was wondering if anybody else here applied for the same scholarships? If so, have you heard back from them yet?</p>
<p>When I asked about scholarships I was told there /was/ no application, they just used your app to the school. Are you not talking about undergrad?</p>

<p>UIUC is notoriously stingy with giving out merit aid.</p>
<p>When I started my undergrad there, I got a $5000 scholarship from the MechSE department and that was unheard of for most people. I think they only gave out like 12 of them or something like that. I ended up losing it after a craptastic second semester involving a little too much personal life drama.</p>
<p>Regardless, to get that I came in with a 4.6 weighted GPA or something, 34 ACT, 1470 SAT I think (back when it was out of 1600) and a boatload of EC’s, so I guess that would be a rough benchmark to look at. I am not sure how that stacks up against other departments though, and this was 5 years ago, so I would imagine that the financial situations is somewhat tougher right now due to the economy.</p>
