echols building on mccormick road (NOT ECHOL'S SHOLAR HOUSING)

So I just got my housing assignment and I'm in the Echols building on McCormick road, not to be confused with the Echols scholar program (it has nothing to do with it). I got a double and my roommate and I were just wondering if anyone knows what the Echols rooms look like. Are there two desks and/or closets? It's my understanding that each building in the McCormick dorms is a little different, so just wondering if anyone knew anything special about them! Thanks in advance.

You may want to consider joining the facebook group “Official University of Virginia Class of 2015 Group”. It is a closed group so you will need to request to join. Many first year dorms have formed groups from this group. I know my son’s dorm posted pictures of inside a dorm room.

i lived in echols and i considered it a blessing. i took mostly psychology and biology classes and that means i only had to walk literally two minutes to get to those buildings; it’s really convenient because it’s close to o’hill dining hall, the bookstore, everything. on the downside, it’s nearest the trees so there’s all sorts of insects that can get into the dorm rooms, especially stink bugs, silverfish, and cockroaches.

there are two beds with drawers underneath, one closet, a side mirror or a door mirror (depending on which room you got), and two desks. it’s pretty spacious, imo, as spacious as a dorm room can be. bathrooms are pretty terrible; there isn’t a lot of pressure in shower heads. bring carpet/rug; the floors are filthy.

thank you all so much!!! that was so helpful!

I’m In Echols too! Only I got a single=/. When I visited, the doubles dorms didn’t seem too small. (And thanks for a head’s-up about the bugs. EEK!)
