I'm right there with you!!! I haven't been sleeping well because I just sit there and what if all night....oof. best of luck jask!

Anyone on here that gets Echols, I would love your email btw. I live in Charlottesville so I can answer questions about the city if you have any.

Is anyone here hoping for rodmans...I know I am. I got not only the general likely letter, but also a likely "packet" that much resembled an acceptance with another likely letter attatched from the school of engineering...did anyone else get this, or this it may be a sign of rodmans??!!

alright so I just gt an email from sbc6@virginia.edu... It told me I got into UVA and that I was an official Echols scholar.

Nevertheless, the email sounded like it was one of two things:
a) written by a fifth grader.
b) written in five minutes.

There were one or two grammar mistakes. Is this for real? Or is some kid trying to be funny?

I just saw that I have the email as well. The formatting isn't traditional but still there isn't anything that makes me believe it isn't the real email. I am pretty sure it is.

Yeah the format is actually SO weird. I feel like it was probably not meant to be like that, but I'll take the good news anyway, weird format or no. :)

I got the E-mail too ... the formatting was pretty strange ... it was sent by the free trial version of some shareware mass e-mail program ... Mine also didn't have an address showing in the "from" column ... I'm pretty sure it's legit, but it is a little strange

lol apparently you weren't the only one to call...everyone get the "follow up" that said that we were, in fact, actually echols scholars? haha that's slightly embarrassing for them, i'm not gonna lie...

i just got into Echols, but I know very few people at UVA. generally speaking, how do people in the Echols Scholars program like it, and how are they received by other students at UVA? also, does segregated housing have a negative impact on social life, or is it a benefit since you're surrounded by similarly motivated students? thanks

Hey, at least they got them out quickly! My guess is that's what happened, they just finished and really wanted to get them out ahead of admission decisions and that was the quickest way/format. But, who cares what the email looks like, you're in if you got it! You'll get the pretty letter this weekend or next week.

PS- Rodmans: yay for the e-school apparently being behind the College in all of this. Hold in there, an inside source told me that they were finalizing selections/programs for selected/etc.
PPS- Tennis89: I know an Echols scholar that's a first year, and know one thats a second year. Neither complain about the program, other than it's "difficult" to schedule classes because they have so many options and very very few constraints (that's a good thing though!). They don't have reqs to fill, so they can take whatever classes please them, which is absolutely amazing, especially at a school like UVA with such diverse and cool classes. As far as other students, no one in your classes know you're an Echols unless you tell them. But, everyone's smart here. No one looks down on others who are either more or less smart than themselves, Echols or not. And as far as dorms go, you'll meet plenty of people outside dorms, and plus, there's other dorms 5 seconds away! Your fellow Echols may become some of your closer friends, or you may develop other circles, it's really up to you :) But don't look at the dorm thing as a negative, it'll still be random for the most part and you'll still meet other people.
