Hi,
I was accepted into a pre-engineering program at Oregon State, and looking at this new program called Ecological Engineering.

I am concerned about the name Ecological Engineering, it is completely new as a program and field where no one really has an idea of the outlook, but it is not unlike other Environmental Engineering programs it is just at this school their Env Eng focuses more on point source pollution and water treatment where Eco engineering is more focused on the big picture of non point source pollution and is more biology based then chemistry. Some of the coursework is as follows; Year of Chem, Year of Bio, Year of physics, strength of materials, Ecological Engineering I and II, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics and transfer processes, hydrology, hydraulic engineering, fate and transport of chemicals, geotechnical engineering, soil engineering, bioremediation, environmental engineering design, and then there are various tracks in either a general, an ecosystem restoration engineering, or water resources engineering.

I guess the biggest issue is where this field is going to go is there an outlook for jobs and if so what? By the way this program is not ABET accredited yet, they filed in Oct 2011 and are supposed to get the results by August 2012.

Any info would help
Thanks
