Hi,

I am currently registered to take Econ 100A (professor TBA). However, a lot of my peers have been telling me that I am missing out on taking Econ 100B with Olney this fall. I really enjoyed Econ 1 with Train and I was wondering how do Olney and Train's lecture styles, course load, exams, etc compare with each other? If they are at all similar then I might just have to switch to Econ 100B because I do not want to miss out.

Also, is it better/worse to have section the same day of lecture? Or does that not matter?

Thanks!

I’m doing 100B with Olney next Fall :)

From what I hear she’s tough, but extremely engaging.

I enjoyed Train’s teaching style as well, but everyone tells me Olney’s better.

I had Train for Econ 1 and liked him, but I feel like I learned a lot more from Olney. She goes slower and repeats more than Train and makes sure you understand every concept completely. And uses whiteboards more than powerpoints. Olney’s tests are actually easier than Train’s… I feel like I studied less for 100B but got a better grade.

iloveny, you should take 100B instead of 100A next semester. The order doesn’t matter at all and I’ve never heard anything good about the 100A teachers. And it’s not too late to switch, I was like 70th on the waitlist but got in.
