Econ 101 and Stats 250 vs. EECS 183 and Math 115

I am thinking about being an Econ major, and one of the Econ advisors told me to take Econ 101 and Stats 250 at the same time because he said I won’t have enough time to take the core classes and electives if I take just take Econ 101. Do you guys think those two classes are doable if I am struggling a bit with the material in both Math 115 and EECS 183, and the workload is kind of heavy for me in EECS?

stats 250 is known to be very easy, so you should be fine.

Thanks.

I took Econ 101 last year and found it to be very easy. Didn’t go to any lectures, taught myself out of the book, and got an A with general ease.

I am currently taking Stats 250, and while it is a bit more demanding than Econ 101, it’s still pretty easy.

I am also taking EECS 183, and would say that it is about 3x as hard as both Econ 101 and Stats 250 combined. If you can get a decent grade in EECS 183, you can do stats and econ at the same time no problem.

@nomerci Thank God. Even though I am struggling a bit more with the material in EECS 183 with streams atm, I think I can get a B or even a B+ in the class. I’m also taking Calc 1.

I think of the classes you mentioned, I would rate them this way in terms of difficulty

Calc 1 (took last year, got a B) > EECS 183 (taking currently, have a B+) > Stats 250 (taking currently, have an A+) > Econ 101 (took last year, got an A).

Although I currently have a higher grade in Stats than I finished with in Econ, I feel stats requires more overall work. It might be less difficult, but more demanding in terms of course load. Either way, those two are pretty close in difficulty.

Just decide how much of a workload you want per semester, and then split the classes up accordingly and you’ll be fine.

Yeah, I agree. Calc 1 is getting really difficult in Chapter 4. EECS183 is somehow a bit easier to figure out but more work.
