Econ 101b before Econ 101a?

From what I've gotten from the online schedule, you have to take Econ 101a before Econ 101b.. but you can take Econ 100b before Econ 100a if you want.. Do is it actually matter for the 101 series?

And also, I've heard that both series are hard, but 101 is even harder.. Is it just because of the math that makes it harder? But supposedly 101 is graded easier right? Can anyone provide any insight into this? Thanks

Er..I don't mean to steal the post but also does anyone know if you can take 100A and then switch to 101b?

Doesn't matter. In fact, in my experience, 101B is much easier than 101A, so if you're not all that immersed in economics, macro might be a better class to get your feet wet, so to speak.

In regard to your second question, 101 is definitely a step up from 100 in terms of difficulty, and yes, it is because of the math. However, 101 often has better professors (I had the famous DeLong for macro, and the delightful David Card for micro), and they are often more lenient on the grading.
