Econ 10A Without Curve

Hey guys, anyone know how hard it is a B in Econ 10A without the curve there anymore? I know it’s a hard class, but since you don’t have to be in the top 30% is it extremely possible? I want to go to UCSB but not if I can’t get into Econ/accounting.

Hi chaseguy750,

To answer your question Econ 10A is a hard class, but achieving a B is quite possible because they give you multiple tries. If you are a transfer student who gets between a c to a B-, then the first week of the following quarter, a retake exam is administered that will grant you full major access if you receive a grade of B or better. Even if you fail to do so, you get a third try at the end of the quarter, in which you are allowed to take the same final exam that the regular Econ 10A class for that quarter is taking. If you do not pass the class (grade of C- or lower), then you are allowed to retake the class in its entirety and try to get a B or better the second time around.

I have had friends who ended up in other majors such as psychology or communication since they couldn’t get pass that class with the required grade. It does happen.
