Econ 11/101

I've been hearing that these are the two hardest econ classes, even compared to the upper divs.. Is this true? How do the upper divs compare?

its true...econ 11 is the weeder pt. 1, econ 101 is weeder pt. 2. if u gonna drop econ major...u will drop it while taking these two classes

btw, yahooo, you got a facebook?

message me ur name so i can add you, maybe we can help each other out since we are both aspiring econ majors.

Damn, I am taking Econ 11, but wasn't lucky enough to get it with McDevitt

econ 11 and 101 are not as bad as some people make them...they are actually really good classes that expose you to more than just supply/demand curves
i hope you guys enjoy the classes as much as i did! :)

For me, the upper div electives have been cake, in comparison. Of course, you'll have to choose carefully and play to your strengths. I dislike studying economics from a mathematical standpoint, so I would never take any class from the 140 series. Most of the ones I've chosen (and liked) examine the social/political/historical side of economics. Thus, the focus is written analysis as opposed to drawing graphs and/or solving numerical problems (which is pretty much how econ 11/101 is taught here, btw). Furthermore, for some of the upper divs, I don't think you would have needed to have taken econ 11/101 at all to excel in. The thing about 11/101 is that they are really dry classes that aren't made any more palatable by the professors we have. Another thing is, 11/101 are required, and there are only like three professors who teach those classes... so you're kind of stuck if you don't like them. Whereas for the upper divs, you are more free to pick and choose.

UD management classes are not too difficult, unless you have Ravetch.

So once I finished the pesky 11/101 (and 102 & 103, I suppose), it was all uphill for me.
