I'm in Econ major. I'm deciding between UGBA 103 in summer (as it's offered in session A and I don't wanna spend my whole summer studying) and ECON 136 in semester.

Are ECON 136 and UGBA 103 equivalent? What are the differences between them, in terms of professors, class materials, grading, difficulty, workload, etc?

What are your purposes for taking a finance class? I have heard that Economics 136 covers more material and is harder than UGBA 103, but UGBA 103 is curved since it is a UGBA course. If you take Economics 136, you won’t be able to take further finance courses. If you take UGBA 103, you can then take 131, 132, and 133.

do econ 136. I hear it’s a lot easier than UGBA 103’s vicious curve (vicious if you’re shooting for an A, it’s very generous in giving out B’s).

I made the mistake of taking UGBA 103 because I wanted to take the other finance electives. But because the class size is only 30 students for finance electives, it made it impossible for a non-Haas major to get in.
