So my enrollment time this quarter is pretty late and I'm not sure if I'll be able to get into Econ 1, so I was thinking of taking Econ 41. Would this be feasible? Does 41 use a lot of ideas and concepts from 1? Or is it just a stats class with some Econ added in? Thanks!

Yes. Definitely feasible. Econ 41 is just statistics while 1 is micro, so there's little overlap.

a bit of supply and demand, stock and flow (econ 2), thats about it. esp. if you got brown...dont bother going to class...get a few extra hours of sleep, recover from ur hangover, go on facebook, just dont go to his class. because it is an utter waste of time

Had 41 with Brown. Worst class I've ever taken. Avoid Brown at all costs.

i think the kid is stuck with brown dude. he got 41 for the spring too

brown seems to be the only one teaching this class. I keep avoiding it... but I'm going to have to take it eventually

Try summer session if you like - the instructor will be KANG, D.M.

Don't know who he/she is, but ANYONE is better than Brown...

^hear hear. hell lemme teach econ 41 instead of him

Wow, is Brown really that bad? Hopefully I'll be able to get into Econ 1 and I'll take 41 during Fall. Any idea if someone different would teach it then or does Brown teach all the time? Summer doesn't work, I don't live in LA.

is brown just a super bad prof, or is the material tough too?

I had Kyriazidou for Econ 41. She was NOT a good lecturer, but her exams/hw are very straight forward; I found the class to be quite easy. The text we used was just "introductory statistics", so zero econ content. The class may have very well been like Stats 10.

i heard fall quarter was a cake...people had stuff like figuring out means, medians, and modes on the first midterm. but then i heard winter quarter he raised the difficulty and people got owned on the first one.
