So, I've heard a lot of my friends that go to Duke, Penn, etc. say that econ is always better in the College as opposed to the Business School. Is this true? Or does it vary with each school? (including public universities)

At Penn the school of business is definitely better than econ. Many of the other Ivy Leagues don’t have business schools and majoring in econ at those schools would generally be better than majoring in business at a top 10 business schools.

I’m sure if you are going to a school as good as Duke you will be fine majoring in either.

Duke also does not have an undergrad B school.

you will not learn much in the way of pure econ in Wharton. You take only 3 econ courses even though the degree is a BS in economics. If you want to learn econ study econ, if you want to learn business study business.
