I was wondering which one has a better Econ department for undergrad?
I heard that UCSD is top 10 in the nation, what about UCLA?

Thank you,

At the graduate level, UCSD is #10 and UCLA is #11. In other words, they are roughly equal. At the undergraduate level, it is hard to gauge the quality of a program. There is no real way of comparing undergraduate programs.

UCLA econ is good too.

I think you’re referring to the USNews graduate ranking for econ:
1 Massachusetts Institute of Technology Cambridge, MA Score 5.0
1 University of Chicago Chicago, IL Score 5.0
3 Harvard University Cambridge, MA Score 4.9
3 Princeton University Princeton, NJ Score 4.9
3 Stanford University Stanford, CA Score 4.9
3 University of California–Berkeley Berkeley, CA Score 4.9
7 Yale University New Haven, CT Score 4.8
8 Northwestern University Evanston, IL Score 4.6
9 University of Pennsylvania Philadelphia, PA Score 4.5
10 University of California–San Diego La Jolla, CA Score 4.3
11 Columbia University New York, NY Score 4.2
11 University of California–Los Angeles Los Angeles, CA Score 4.2
11 University of Michigan–Ann Arbor Ann Arbor, MI Score 4.2
11 University of Wisconsin–Madison Madison, WI Score 4.2

Go for environment vs. program rank, because the differences are negligble. I would prefer UCLA’s more active campus environment. UCSD is kinda weird with the residential college system…just my opinion.
