Hello there, I would really appreciate some feedback on my situation with the end goal of getting to a lets say top 25 econ Ph.D. program. I am a Senior graduating from a mid-tier school (University of Denver) with a like 3.10ish GPA. I know that’s not terribly competitive. I also know for Econ grad school some higher level math is required/ highly desired. If I take some math classes at a community college and that boosts my overall GPA a bit and I get my CFA (I’d want my focus to be financial economics) would that help my situation? Alternatively, would going back for a 2nd bachelor (in applied mathematics) help my situation assuming I do really well. I don’t think my GPA is bad but it isn’t great and it’s honestly from a lack of effort not lack of capability. Also, last potential changing factor, I’ve applied for a job at S&P if I worked up towards a research assistant or even analyst role in the next couple of years would that help cover up my GPA lacking. Any advice would be great thanks!
