econ major - tepper or hs&s

so, does an econ major apply to tepper or hs&s? the website says econ is part of hs&s but then the link takes you to tepper? thanks in advance

You apply to Tepper. Though most kids I know doing Econ are doing a Stat/Econ major (very popular here) so they end up taking classes in both.

Here’s a list of the four possible Econ concentrations.

[Majors in Economics : Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon](http://www.tepper.cmu.edu/undergraduate-economics/academics/curricula/majors-in-economics/index.aspx)

Thanks for your response - that is what I also thought. however, here is the information from the website that is confusing (please see last sentence)

[Carnegie Mellon Admission | Undergraduate Economics Programs](http://admission.enrollment.cmu.edu/pages/undergraduate-economics-programs)

The Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Sciences offers four undergraduate degree programs in economics, including the BS or BA in Economics, the BS in Economics and Mathematical Sciences and the BS in Economics and Statistics. Each program is designed to develop students’ analytical skills and give them a solid foundation in the field of economics. The Dietrich College and the Tepper School of Business jointly support the Undergraduate Economics Program, however, students apply to the Dietrich College for admission to the program.

Didn’t read that part. I guess you’d apply to Dietrich then. It doesn’t really make sense that they’d have you apply to Dietrich, but I guess it helps keep Tepper “Exclusive” (I believe there’s roughly 80 Tepper kids per year) by having the students count as Dietrich students.

I’d follow the guidelines on the website. Also feel free to contact the Office of Admissions if you want to be 100% sure about this.
