Okay so SIR deadline is only a week away, and I still haven't made up my mind yet. Got accepted to both and only UCD and UCSD for economics, and I am debating about which school I should go to.

I live in the bay area so UCSD would be a financial hammer on my head in terms of transportation, housing, and such. While UCD is much more easier of my wallet ( I think )

I know for a fact that UCSD is academically more "prestige" than UCD, but my question is which school is gonna be tougher to survive in, and which school will provide the most help to me?

I am going to ucsd… my little bro to davis

I think they’re both extremely similar academically. It really depends on the lifestyle you want to live. In San Diego you will be in So Cal by the beach and UCD you will be around a lot of farms but at least it’s a college town. If you’re looking for a college town experience go to UCD. Both have very good econ programs although UCSD is more elite. They’re both probably going to be pretty tough to survive in as an econ major but you should be fine. I believe UCSD will be slightly tougher to survive academically but not enough of a difference to make the decision. Ultimately, I think you should close your eyes and meditate on which campus you want to be living in for the next two years.

The reason I say this is because the differences are so negligible that it ultimately comes down to lifestyle. I would personally automatically say SD because it’s in so cal and enough said. However, you are in nor cal so the decision is a lot more even. Had you been in So Cal I would advise you to go to UCSD regardless. In the long run the schools are so similar I don’t think you can make a wrong decision, that’s the good news.

thanks for the insight yowhatup11

anyone else care to chime in?

I got into both for Econ as well, and I chose SD because I live in NorCal and need to ■■■■ out of here already.

:P

I’d go with the school with the better name. UCSD is in a huge city, where as UCD is in Davis near Sac. I’m assuming UCSD would have better internship and/or employment opportunities especially for an econ major.

An the costs should not be that much of an issue imo. When you go to UCD you plan on commuting everyday or living near campus? I don’t see a major cost issue if you plan on living near campus, the savings are going to be non-existent going to school at UCD compared to UCSD. And as an econ major school name is important as far as working in business/finance. Those jobs are a bit more luctrative compared to other majors so the costs(which are not much, if at all real) of going to UCSD is worth it.

IMO of course, I don’t know diddly.
