<p>What are the chances of getting into the finance world as an econ major coming from Cal? What kind of recruiting opportunities are there on campus? I'm very much interested in IBanking, PE and Hedge Funds.</p>
<p>finance is a subset of economics. so it should be fine. my roommate is an econ major and is taking a full time IB gig at a bulge. there are a good number of cal econ majors that go into what you’re interested in.</p>
<p>either way, it’s not about what you know, it’s about who you know. econ dept has a pretty good network, but i mean, compared to certain other entities on campus, it may not be your optimal major with respect to building the largest network.</p>
