Econ Major...

I eventually want to go to law school to study corporate law. Would it be a good idea to become an econ major? Also, if I get completely screwed over and don't end up going to law school, would this still be a good major for me to work with a wide range of opportunities? Is it more useful after graduation than a poli sci major?

The answer to all your questions, I believe, is yes. In comparison to a poli sci major, I would say you have a better chance of applying what you learn about depending on the job you take on. Also, there are so many poli sci majors, it is one of the most popular if not the most popular major. So distinguishing yourself might be more difficult. Econ is gaining in popularity as well so this effect might be marginal at best. This a website for math majors but econ is shown in the tables [Why Should I Be A Math Major?](http://www.math.duke.edu/major/whyMajor.html)

With the exception of math and philosphy majors, econ majors do better on the LSATs than any other major. Here are some other websites that have similiar findings:

[Average LSAT Scores for 29 Majors with over 400 Students Taking the Exam](Business | University of Illinois Chicago)

Some of these sites might have double quoted stats but either way, it is generally accepted that econ is one of the best preps for law school. If you end up not wanting to go to law school, it is also a great prep for business school, and also a career. Here is some salary info I pulled from google as well.

Hope this helps

Wow, that’s a big help and very encouraging. I thought that this would be perfect for me since I’m really liking economics in school this year and Us history was one of my best classes. You’re awesome!
