<p>Depends on the quality of the school, sort of. From a top LAC or ivy (where there might not be an actual business program), many would use it to go into investment banking since it's the next best thing after finance. Students of lower-ranked schools might not make it to i-banking, but you never know.</p>
<p>In general, a common thing to do with an econ degree is to go into law school or become an economist and do a lot of research for a firm or for government. Still many do econ because they had nothing else to do. I think it's a very broad degree that can do many things. Try asking in the business forum.</p>
