Econ or Finance

Which major would have better opportunity to make a lot of money (because that's what runs the world), a degree in Finance or a Degree in Econ with a finance minor? kthx!

I don't believe any recruiters have a preference. But preferably whichever one you major in your school should be fairly well known for.

I'm pretty sure economics has a slightly higher starting salary than finance. I know finance and economics used to be paired together when looking at websites with data on average starting salaries.

2006
Most lucrative college degrees - Feb. 15, 2006

2007
College grads see higher starting salaries this year - Jul. 12, 2007

The difference is virtually negligible, also, those statistics don't take bonuses into account, thought I had no idea Chem Eng was that lucrative

Basically the same, although as a finance major you may be given slightly more opportunities through your college of business. Majoring in Economics is likely to give you a more interesting course load.

^^^ agreed.
