Econ prereqs (econ theory and stats)

I'm a prospective econ major transfer student and was wondering what the difficulty of these classes are for anyone who has taken them before? How's the curve in these classes? The stats courses are are stats 20, 21, or 25. I still have to take these courses if I'm admitted into Berkeley and then apply to the major.

Thanks in advance.

You'll have to enroll in Stats 21 in the Fall since basically both Stats 20 lectures are full and Stats 25 isn't offered. The class is with Purves and his grade distribution according to pickaprof.com is 22% A, 31% B and 44% C.

The intermediate economic series are Econ 100A/B and Econ 101A/B. The 101 series is more math heavy than the 100 series. "A" courses are micro while "B" courses are macro.

Hey i'm a transferring pre-econ as well

Regarding Stat 20, theres no way I can get in?

I haven't even had my CalSo yet... don't they take that into consideration?

Is there any chance of them increasing the class size for Stat 20? It seems in Spring 2008 the stat 20 classes were 120 while in fall 2008 they are only at 100.

What's the best way to get a spot in the class? I'm not transferring this year so this info would prove valuable if and when I do transfer.

Also, I hear the admittance rate into the major is around 66% or something like that. What's generally the guideline to get in? Do they go strictly by a gpa cutoff? And do they just look at the econ theory/stats course or all your prereqs as a whole?

any advice golden bear??

the app for the econ major asks all your prereq classes and grades. the rule of thumb is that if you want to be a sure admit, have at least a B in EVERY class. not a B-, not an average of a B across your prereqs, but a B in every prereq. then you're basically guaranteed admission. and i think you can also apply more than once. you just need to be under a certain number of units when you apply.

Well, transfers have to suck it up and take Purves, since the department has a strict policy on transfer students since I believe they must apply the semester they arrive.

how does waitlist work? would i have any chance with waitlist?
