<p>I might have forgotten some, but I wouldn't worry about just the econ program at the school.
An elite private will give you great undergrad economics. On the other hand, once you move on to the graduate level the differences in prestige and quality become more apparent even among elite schools.</p>
<p>Northwestern can be in the tier 1 depending on what rankings you look at. There are quite a few econ rankings out there. For example, the one that Quoth the raven posted puts it at #4.</p>

<p>ok you can't leave Bowdoin off of the top econ programs...i've read a/b people who had graduated from harvard going back to get their degree from bowdoin for econ 'just in case.' It obviously deserves a spot.</p>
