I think many people want to be I-bankers and study physics and engineering with this goal. They study something “hard” to impress. Don’t really know if this is a good strategy.

@Amazon
At this point, you’re forced to play that hand in order to stand out because many others are double majoring with the intention of becoming an i-banker.
After all, the Economics major consists of 8 classes (4 of them being ridiculously easy), so you have the free time anyway.

What do econ majors double major in? It has to be something in Arts and Sciences, right? I know kids who just major in physics or engineering but don’t intend to do anything with it.

Wait… Econ is one of the easiest majors? You’ve got to be kidding me.

Econ is a joke major, honestly.
I finished the major in a single year just for the heck of it.
(I have no intentions of being anywhere near the financial field.)
Compared to Computer Science or Biology major, the classes for Econ are so much easier and there’s barely any reqs you have to fulfill.
My primary major is CS with maybe a minor in biology, and I have to say that I miss Econ classes because they were so easy.

Even Intermediate Micro and Econometrics!?

And who did you take for Macro?

@Saugus
I never understood why Econ majors think Econometrics is so hard.
Even Discrete Mathematics (CS 2800), a CS introductory class, was at least twice as harder than that.

For inter macro, I had Barseghyan. He was an okay professor for the most part.

I haven’t done Econometrics yet but I’m terrified. I had Troshkin for Micro and literally had no idea what I was doing.

I’ve heard mixed things about Barseghyan. Some said his class was a joke and others said he was terrible. How much math was there? I took it with AEM professor Steven Kyle and he was just awful.

Barseghyan likes to joke around in class a bit, and you can tell he tries.
The unfortunate part is that he’s not a very good teacher.
The textbook is only used for homeworks, and it’s pretty much trash for studying for his exams.
I wouldn’t really recommend him, but if there are no other options, it wouldn’t be the end of the world.

How did you study for his tests then? I’ve run into that problem now twice in the Econ department.
