You don't think I've networked? Why else besides excellent academics do people go to top schools? Yes, because many of them have excellent alumni networks.

Compare SDSU MBA program versus a Kellogg, Wharton, Stanford in terms of alumni quality and receptiveness.

from all the "career insights" professionals have given me-- the most ideal applicant is one who will be easy to train (since hey, whether its i-banking or business consulting, all new hires are going through training) and who are good thinkers. this person can have an ugrad business degree, an ugrad econ degree or engineering or hell even an english degree so long as they prove they are quantitatively strong.

So...if looking at a choice of going to either Wharton or Ross (for undergrad business) vs. UChicago or Princeton (for undergrad econ), the better choice would be the business route? (Taking into consideration career opportunities and networking)

keep in mind that UChicago for example actually has probably the number 1 economics program in the country and undergrads are allowed to take some MBA classes.

Alright, so in terms of career opportunities at graduation, I would be better off at Princeton than Ross? (Both money wise and future possibilities)

All 4 programs are outstanding. As for oppertunities, I'd say they are all very similiar. What it depends on for many finance positions are grades from these programs 3.6+ , experience, and EC.

So, at the very least, it would be worth my time to apply to Princeton/UChicago beyond Wharton, Sloan, and Ross. (Just to offer a diff route if I decide to take it)

So, does this mean i shouldn't bother going to an undergraduate biz school like sdsu, CALpoly, Long Beach?

Am i wasting my time/money ?

I mean, i know i have absolutely no chance at going to a school like haas or wharton since at best i will have a 3.5 gpa.

I'm not asking for a 150k+ salary, but i still want a shot at somewhere around 60-100k. Is this possibly when you're undergraduate biz was at a school who barely even made the ranks on USNEWS?

From what I hear from my friends @ SJSU there are some pretty nice employment opportunities coming from there. The main thing is to stand out--gpa, ect…

Not sure about Calpoly, and sdsu though.

EDIT: to answer your question: No, you are not wasting your time/money.

sjsu has GREAT opps coming out of their undergrad bschool, more so than every other csu besides cal poly slo. But that statement is really dependent on what kind of jobs you want, and being the center of silicon valley, you should understand what kind of jobs are there. Same with all the other schools, geography changes the jobs available at these schools. SDSU has lots of defense companies hiring, fullerton has lots of start ups, long beach shares with fullerton but includes more government recruiting, home building etc
