Economic Research in High School?

How can I get involved in Econ research during the summer? I live in Illinois and I have two summer camps this summer (one at Yale and one at Uchicago) so I can’t really work with a professor. What types of research for Econ is out there and how do you get into it? I’m just unsure of the whole process and would really like to learn about it so I can do it on my own. (Explain everything to me if you can…the longer the better!

To clarify, can someone explain the best way to do research that isn’t “scientific” in high school?

I think at this point your best best would be to lay the foundation.
Have you taken any economics courses?
You could start taking some online courses to broaden your knowledge…eg. from MIT Open Coursewhere

Have you read Freakonomics? http://freakonomics.com/

Do you have an economics teacher at school? Could you talk to them?

What kind of summer camps are you going to?

Also, honestly, have you googled “opportunities for economic research for secondary school students”?

I am taking AP Econ this year so I’m well versed in micro and macro. I’m doing Yale young global scholars (PLE) this summer and economics for leaders at Uchicago. @bopper

I’m not sure what else I can do research wise? Surveying?
