Hi everyone!
I am now admited to this three schools, on the walilist of UCSD, and I major in Economic. Which school should I choose? And which of them can get me better chance to transfer to a more prestigious school like UCLA or Duke?
Thanks!
If you want to go to gaduate school in Economics, you should major in Math, or choose the Economics major with calculus-based classes.
In addition, what’s your parents’ budget and how much does each cost after scholarships but before any loan?
UCSD has intermediate economics courses using multivariable calculus; UCI offers that as an option, in addition to the more usual single variable calculus version. So these may have a slight edge over the others if you want to go to PhD study in economics. Of course, if you want to do that, you need to take substantial additional math and statistics courses regardless.
Of course, net price of each school is important.
I didn’t apply for a scholarship, and the cost may not be a problem. I personally want to attend a cheaper one though.
What about UCSB? Do they have a better economic program? I am not that academic actually, so I am not going to pursue a PhD. I just want to go to a college that is not to hard to get a job after graduation.
