My phase 1 will end soon and I was wondering if I should wait list for Economics 1 or enroll in for UGBA 10.

So far many have confirmed Economics is better to be taken first semester, but I'll have to waitlist it. What should I do? Thanks!

Also if the Lec section is not full but Dis sections are… do I still enroll in the Lec? It doesn’t give any other options =!

Lecture is technically ‘full’ when all the discussion sections are. Even if it says there are seats left in lecture, you won’t be off the waitlist until you’re off the waitlist for section.

Thanks for the reply!

My options:
Waitlist - Math 1A* is full (no more Disc)
Waitlist - Economics 1* is full (waitlist only)
Enroll - CS 61A* is still open
Enroll - UGBA 10 is still open (I was expecting to go for Economics 1 first semester, but it’s full so should I just enroll in UGBA 10?)

Originally on my schedule

I got Asian American Studies R2A down.

people will drop out of econ 1 like flies during week 2 of instruction.
don’t worry about the waitlist issue, it’s more about how mentally strong you are to have faith and not drop out of the class before you are taken off the waitlist. welcome to stressful world of telebears.

ugba 10, figure out if you actually want to be a business major or not

I think my options are narrowed down to: waitlist for Economics, enroll for UGBA 10, or enroll CS61A (it’s filling up quickly).

What do you think I should do now? My Phase 2 won’t be here for another 2 weeks so :(!

@Enem, Yes I’m aiming to apply for Haas!

^yes, he knows you’re aiming for haas. ugba 10 is not a prereq for anything else -.-;
but if eminem would so kindly allow me to put words in his mouth, i think he was trying to say something along the lines of “How do you know you will like haas classes if you havent even taken one yet, how can you know what you want to major in without dabbling in the subject matter at the college level yet? major=/=career, so you should find your true academic interests/tolerance levels out before pigeonholing into a major that you don’t enjoy/can’t tolerate/aren’t cut out for just because you think it will lead to a certain career.”

i still say go for econ 1. if you’re aiming for haas, gpa is what counts most. ugba 10 isnt about being smart (what you may be used to) it’s about beating your peers. missing 1 q on a 50 q test vs missing 3 q’s can often be the difference btwn the A-level and the B-level. take a sem at cal to figure out how to game the system, trying your studying skills out on less important/more traditional classes like econ 1.
