Can anyone attest to the economics department at Fordham?

This won't be much help, but I'm starting my econ classes in the spring so perhaps then I'll let you know how good the department is =P

From what little I know, the professors (at LC) are pretty distinguished. Other econ students have told me that they're knowledgeable in their field. I can't tell you anything more than that because I haven't been in an econ class yet. Sorry. Hope that somewhat helped.

The Economics Department at Fordham is top notch. Many of the professors are either Ivy, MIT, Stanford, University of Chicago, or London School of Economics graduates. All knowledgeable and approachable.

I took Advanced Macroeconomic Theory this past fall, and it was one of the best classes I've ever taken. It was extremely difficult, but the professor was extremely engaging and made the class wonderful.

To me, the best aspect of the Economics Department is that even though it isn't particularly large (probably only about 150 to 200 majors university wide), there is still a great selection of electives; everything from Labor and Diversity, to Law and Economics, to Emerging Economic Markets, and many many others. The professors are great, but when selecting courses try and avoid Grad students. It's generally their first time teaching, and they can be really tough on grades, or simply not good at teaching yet.

im not an econ major, but when i look at all the classes offered in that department, it makes me wish i had a knack for that subject

I'm applying to Rose Hill. Should I have applied to Lincoln Center? fordham217 are you an econ. major? Thanks!

Fordham's Economics Department is top notch. It is available as a major and minor, both at Rose Hill and Lincoln Center. There is also a minor in economics available, and a combined Mathametics/Economics program, an International Political Economy program and a specialized early entry for a Masters in Economics. It has a Distinguished Faculty member in Professor Salvatore, and many others with their Economics PhD's from Stanford, Cornell, Manchester, NYU, Harvard, New School, Fordham (3), Iowa, Arizona, Columbia (3), Berkeley, Maryland, Johns Hopkins, Sorbonne, Pittsburgh.

Its a very distinguished faculty indeed.

You will be fine at Rose Hill. Its the main campus, anyway.

Where did you get that info?

go to fordham.edu > academics > Departments and Programs
look under E for economics, and then look at the faculty listings
