Economics at penn or medicine in the middle east

Hi,
Recently I have been giving my future a lot of thought and have realized that I would really want to become a doctor. I am currently a student at the University of Pennsylvania planning on majoring in Econ and being premed. However, Medical schools in the US are very very expensive and the program is so long! Medical schools in the middle east (where I am from) are cheaper and the road to becoming a physician is more stable and direct.

I come from a family of physicians, so all I know are people who are in the health sector, mostly physicians. I can’t really imagine the daily lives of “Economists”.

Penn is an incredible school, an amazing opportunity and I love it, but I know I won’t really be able to reach my ultimate goal if I stay…
So what do you think, should I drop out of penn and join a medical program in the middle east? In both cases I will be giving something up.

Do you know other stateside physicians who studied in the ME but are now here in the USA? Reach out to them-- ask their advice. If you were their kid, what would they advise you?

Just a thought.
