Economics at Tulane?

Can anyone comment on the quality of the program? I am planning on majoring in international development or Latin American Studies or political economy but I would like to double major (preferably econ). Any feedback on econ or any of the other programs I mentioned would be great. Thanks!

I can't comment on Tulane's Economics Department, but I do believe their Political Economics Dept and the Latin American Studies Department are two that are highly ranked. I think there is some cross-over of professors who teach in Pol Econ who are from the Econ Dept and vice-versa.

Sounds like you're thinking about 2 great majors.

Their Latin American Studies Dept. is one of the best in the country. Political Econ is also fabulous. I don't know as much about straight econ, but I would assume it is good. I think Tulane

Tulane is a good school. It's not a GREAT school. But what it does have are several GREAT hidden gems, like LAS, Poli Econ, Women's Studies, Neuroscience, and Art (best glass blowing in the country -- seriously, where else can you do that????), and the honors program. Though I'm sad Dr. Brady left!! Anyone know who replaced him?

You can get a great education at Tulane no question. The issue for me was more about fit. And rugby (or lack there of).
