Economics at UT Austin

Hello everyone, I’ve decided I want to study economics at the College of Liberal Arts in UT Austin. Could you please tell me what my chances are of getting in? I’m barely outside the top 8 % (ugh). Id be happy to chance back.

Residence: Texas
GPA: 4.4 (W) 3.8 (UW)
Class rank: 64/661

SAT: 2030, 740(M) 670(W) 620(CR)
SAT II: Math 2-700 (ugh), I don’t plan on submitting this score or retaking it

ACT: none

APs: APUSH-4, Chem- 3, Physics 1-4, US Gov- 4, WHAP-4, Psych- 4, BC Calc-5, Stat-5, Human Geo-4, AP Scholar with Distinction (probably means nothing). I took WHAP and a few honors classes soph year. All my other AP’s are from this year.
I plan on taking AP Macro econ, AP Micro econ, AP Lang, AP Bio, AP Physics C, and AP Physics E&M senior year with the intention of getting 4+ on all of them.

ECs: Treasurer of Genealogy Club
National Honors Society
Officer and fundraising committee head of Key Club
Officer of Asian Student Association
Officer of Future Business Leaders of America
Officer of Young Democrats organization at my school.
Recycling Club (plan on getting some type of leadership role next year)
Over 300 hours of volunteering at a food bank and a hospital (have very strong letters of rec from both), have also volunteered for poor famers in India and have played piano at my local retirement home every holiday season (probably means nothing though)
Concert pianist, over 10 years played, have played at state concert.
Played basketball freshman and sophomore year (sadly I was cut from JV halfway through soph year, tried for Var this year but was cut)

I have very strong letters of rec from 2 teachers and plan on getting one from my counselor.
Please be brutally honest. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!

I would say it would be an advantage to report your SAT II exam for math, though. Your GPA (3.8 UW) is above the average which is a 3.7. (UW) Your weighted gpa (4.4) is really good and can stand out in applications. You have great extracurricular and since your almost in the top 7% you have a really good shot. Good thing is you have two recommendation letters from teachers which is also great. Your AP Exams are also good, but AP exams aren’t really considered in the application process for admission but it can help your transcript stand out. Your leadership is also great. BUT! Raise your SAT Score, that SAT score will squash your chances like a bug, since you may be a senior you still have a chance to take another SAT. You have around a 70% to 80% chance of getting in. If you can raise that score to a 2250, then that’d make your chances around a 80% to 90% in my opinion. If you’re choosing to go to honors program, then you would have a 20% to a 35% chance. Good luck!
