So I will be attending Grinnell next fall (yay!) and I was wondering if you guys could give some insight into the Economics department at Grinnell (i.e. what classes I should take, etc.). I have AP econ credit, and I'm looking to go into finance/investment banking. Also, how is Grinnell's Career Development Office in terms of setting up Econ majors with internships over the summer?

The thread title Grinnell for finance and business addresses this. My son was a history major so I can’t help you myself.

Don’t know much about the Econ Dept. at Grinnell but one thing to check out is Grinnell’s study abroad option with the London School of Economics (it’s a year long program, I believe.)

Hi, I’m a rising third year at Grinnell. I have a lot of friends who have gone to LSE in their third year and they loved it. It’s a great experience. If you wanna know the requirements for the major you can visit the college website and click on the econ major. I was interested in economocis when I first came to Grinnell but now I’m a political science major. I think the professor that is more into finance/investment is Munyon so you should talk to him. I think he is also the person in charge for the LSE program (which is very hard to get into so you need to plan ahead if you think you would like to do that).

Good luck!

Thanks for the response, Cesarh. I’ll be sure to look into that LSE program. Did your friends who studied at LSE get internships over the summer and such? Also, since Grinnell has very little in the way of distribution requirements, would it be possible to triple major?
