OK so I love IU but I'm worried I won't get into kelley after (I wouldn't get in now, no chance) and I want to know about the economics in the Liberal Arts. Is it almost as respected, or is it a joke?

Its not a joke. Its just really different than Kelly. Id try to get into kelly because its easier, dont let anyone tell you different, and you wont have Friday classes. But career wise I think its better to go for Econ through COAS than going for a SPEA major like a lot of people do. You can still get the resources that Kelly provides through LAMP and the workshops. Just make sure you have a killer GPA in your first few semesters so you can get into LAMP, which is great.

whats LAMP

[LAMP: What is LAMP?](http://www.indiana.edu/~lamp/what.shtml)

economics is definitely not a cop-out major. the difference as i have always heard is that people who major in the non-kelley econ program typically want to teach rather than go into consulting, but i’m sure if you set your mind to it you could still go into consulting, and be very successful.

good luck

Econ is one of the most respected majors. The best Econ students will be able to get into Medical schools, Law schools, and consulting. Professor Ostrom is the 2009 Noble prize winner. It is a big deal.
