Economics for people who hate math?

Despite the "cutthroat" reputation of the pre-Haas students, I would like to double major in English and Marketing, so I'm trying to get the pre-requisites done before I apply to Haas. I'm OOS so the adjustment process is a big deal for me, so I'm trying to give myself a somewhat "light" workload for my first semester and take mostly class I'm truly interested. However, it seems as if a math class is unavoidable.

I am absolutely horrible at math, but I managed to barely pass AP Calculus BC. Will taking Econ 1 my first semester be a bad idea? I took AP Statistics too and had some problems with certain concepts. Phase I just ended and I chose Econ 1 over UGBA10 because I was told that UGBA was super competitive and difficult to get a good grade in, but my memorizing skills are better than my math skills. Would it be possible for me to drop Econ 1 and add UGBA10 if it's still open during Phase 2? If so, would that be a wise decision?

I know that there have been topics like this posted before, but none of them have gotten very many good responses. Advice?
