Right now I am currently in the school of Liberal Arts, possibly thinking about changing my major to Economics. I took Macro/Micro as Dual-Credit in high school, and feel that I enjoy the subject. But I did have a few questions.
1. Would my Macro/Micro Dual-Credits count toward the pre-reqs that are required for some economics classes? Also how about Calc from a Community College?
2. I'm not the best at math, and can even struggle with it at times. How much math is involved in this major? Would a person like me me OK?

Jake, are you no longer interested in pursuing an internal transfer into McCombs?

If McCombs is still your goal, then I would recommend staying on the track that was discussed in your previous thread (taking the tough classes outside of UT and maintaining a high UT GPA).

If McCombs is not your goal, then where you decide to take calculus depends on your math aptitude. Some of the upper division Econ classes (Stats and Micro Theory) rely somewhat on a working understanding of derivatives (Micro Theory) and integrals (stats).

propayne, I’m just trying to figure out all the possible alternatives to McCombs in case things do not work out for me in getting in. I still have a while to decide, I might wind up changing it completely! But thank you for all of your help. Its very appreciated.

Just to add, Jake. You are going to be a Freshman. You can get up to 90 hours before the decision is made to transfer into McCombs.

Take some time to take classes your first two semesters and see if the liberal arts or science side is right for you. If you like Economics, particularly the parts about accounting and finance, then McCombs sounds like it would suit your interests.

Keep an open mind, develop good study habits, and see where your interests take you.
