Some background information on me. I'm currently a sophomore. Last year I went to the University of Arizona and this fall I am transferring over to USC.

So basically right now I'm having a huge dilemma. By the end of the semester I need to make a choice between the following.

1) Major in business administration (concentration in finance) and minor in economics
2) Major in economics and enroll in the progressive degree program, do 1 year extra after earning my BA and getting my masters in economics (a 5 year total program)
3) Major in economics and minor in finance

Basically... my problem is I find economics MUCH more interesting than finance/accounting/etc. But the thing I love about the business administration major is that you get a background in so many different subjects like marketing, administration, business communications, finance, etc. before you pursue your concentration. Also I know how much easier it is to get a job with a finance degree rather than an economics degree. However, the idea of having my masters with only 1 extra year of schoolwork and not having to go out into the workforce and then come back is certainly appealing. Plus, like I said I really find economics interesting as well. It was the first class where I managed to earn the highest grade out of any student (250+ student class).

My concern I guess is how hindered will I be by sacrificing the business administration degree and all the background knowledge that comes with it. What kind of jobs can I get with an economics degree? I've been considering personal wealth and portfolio management but I also wouldn't mind a job working for the federal reserve or an economic forecast analyst. As shallow as it sounds I need to make a decent amount of money and I need a career where there is potential for growth and promotion. Not so much for myself, but I was fortunate enough to have a very privledged lifestyle growing up and I want to be able to provide the same for future family.

Also how much will the masters in economics help me with job placement and salary?

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
