Economics Major??

I want to be a economics major in college and I'm applying to Harvard, Penn (wharton), NYU (stern), and University of Chicago. I hope to get into business school at either Columbia or Harvard to recieve a MBA degree. Since Columbia has such a good business school would it be smart to major in economics there as an undergraduate?? All feedback is appreciated!

It certainly helps, but it might be best to double major, or major somewhere other than finance for the best leg up in MBA admissions. MBA schools want people with marketable skills outside of simply finance and economics. Yes, obviously both of those help with gaining an MBA itself, but the issue is your marketable skills are minimal that separate you from the hordes of other MBA grads (and there are plenty!). Therefore, I would suggest you not fret so much about MBA school right now and make sure to open up unique, useful avenues for selling yourself to your future employers. The best time to make this internal diversity is during UG, by far.
