Economics Major

I believe i read on this boad in a previous post that some students had issues with the economics dept and in fact ND had created a 2nd economics major that had a more quanitative focus. Can you give me any details here?

Also, for students that are interested in intl relations and business, what major do they gravitate towards?

what key majors do those seeking a career in law gravitate to?

thanks

hmm those who want to go to law school. Seems that is what most of the people in the poly sci dept plan on doing - going to law school. Also know of a number of PLS - Program of Liberal Studies - and English majors who are considering law school. Personally I think a general trend seems to exist with A&L to some degree. By first semester of senior year the general feeling is one of "I don't know what to do with my life....oh wait I know. I'll go to law school!!!"

So exactly what field of study is ND famous for? And in famous for, I don't mean which major is the most popular. Like UT has a highly ranked business school and Johns Hopkins ranks highly in medicine.
What about ND?

I think you will find that instead of having signature departments, really, ND just is a solid school overall. We really don't view it like that because everything is fairly strong (I know since Creighton had good and bad departments, so I know what that is like). A few shine above the rest, however. I know that our accounting department is ranked very high as is Theology and Philosophy of course. Those are just the ones I know of, however.

I plan on majoring in Philosophy. It ranks in the top of the Philosophical Gourmet Report. Also, while many philosophy programs have become inflated with trash courses, ND Philosophy has remained true to a good philosophy curriculum and courses.
