Economics Majors

Are there any of you that are planning on being an economics major, if so, what job do you plan to pursue after college. I am interested in both accountacy and economics, but I do not which one to choose. Any other information will be appreciated, also.

-Jerod

econ and govt major, going for a law school degree (JD) after that I have no ider.

I'm interested in both accounting and economics as well. What can you do with an econ degree besides go to law school?

Someone out there with first hand experience ?

I'm gonna be an economics major. I will be entering the financial world and hopefully getting an MBA.

Probobly an MBA... although my passion is Constitutional Law.

I also plan to major in Economics. Planning to venture into entrepreneurship.

With economics you could do Investment Banking or Sales and Trading as well...just be sure to get an internship before you senior year if you want to venture into this territory.

I'd reccomend economics, because you can do a lot more with it IMO. It might be more interesting too... if you're successful and stuff you can work for really cool places like the Federal Reserve or something...White House secretary of treasury...or you can be the next alan greenspan....

are there any sites that list jobs for economics students?

I was talking to a recruted for a fortune 500 company, and he said that when he sees someone applying for a job, and is an economics major, he feels that the person majored in economics because he did not know what he really wanted to major in.

Econ is good for grad schools...

Both my parents were Econ majors. They both work for the government now. As long as you have enough Econ classes (even w/o an actual degree), the government can higher you as an economist.

Here's a report from BLS about the profession of an economist

You can get pretty much any job related to business with an econ degree...it works in pretty much every field.

Econ is a very creative discipline and you can do almost anything with it. I have a friend who is double majoring in econ and film, and plans to go to film school. She'll have a totally different perspective on the film industry.

Econ improves your critical thinking skills and explains how the world works. I'd say you can do whatever you want with it.

I heard that over 50% of econ majors end up teaching economics.

Idiias, I think that's a little far-fetched, given the ridiculously large number of people who major in economics.

The number may have refereed to economics Ph.D.s?
