I didn't get into McCombs because of my GPA(3.57) as an external transfer. But i got into Liberal Arts as an Economics major. Should i try to get into McCombs internally and try to get a BBA in Finance? I am not sure whether Economics or Finance will be better major or which one will have more opportunities.

How many hours of credit do you have?

i have 42 hours

i'm sorry for digressing away from your question...i don't know much about the liberal arts school at UT. i know mccombs' finance major pays a great salary immediately after graduation (an average of $52k).

i wanted to know how high UT COLA is ranked? is it a really great school? so far the only great things i've heard about UT are almost exclusively regarding Cockrell and McCombs.

I'm in the same boat as you. I applied to McCombs as an external, but I didn't get in and so I'm in COLA as an Econ major. I'm hoping to transfer to McCombs internally and also going for a BBA in Finance. I'm going to try and get both a BS in Econ and a BBA in Finance. I talked to an advisor at orientation and they said that it would at most tack on an extra semester, so that's my suggestion.

COLA is a good school, but a LA education is what you make it. It's an education, not a ticket to your first job, so average starting salary and all that is irrelevant.
