Economics or Managerial Economics?

Hello, I will entering my first year of college this fall and I am in a bit of a dilemma. I would love to run my own business someday, and people have told me to major in managerial economics. However, it seems like a very heavy major with many requirements and units:( If I major in economics, I could minor in communications and I feel that could be of great help in my search for an occupation. However, I feel as though I may regret not majoring in managerial economics especially since I want to be the owner or manager of a business. Any ideas on what I should choose?

Managerial economics, from the programs I have seen, is a more quantitative field and that is the reason for the heavy requirements. Quantitative skills are very important in today’s environment. For me, I would prefer the managerial major.

If you don’t feel you can hack it with a challenging major, then don’t. But if you’re not taking challenging courses, you’re not making yourself very marketable. Explore accounting.
