I had mostly ruled out Wisconsin, thinking Indiana University would be a better place for a business degree, but recently I have been thinking about doing an economics degree (great time to doubt myself, I know). Anyway, how is the economics program here and how does it compare to the business school here? Any information on this program would be great.

Econ is top quality-generally top 10-15 in US. Very popular. Much better than IU econ.

Thats what ive been reading. Would it makes sense for me to choose it over the business? Ive noticed its not
competitive to get into like
business is. Is that just to do with the number of applicants or is it not as good?

Most schools do not limit majors in core liberal arts areas. So you apply to UW and you can major in anything except a few areas, biz being one of them. Means nothing else really. UW econ has a pretty good placement person plus they can use biz placement so it can be fine. Many go to work for Fed Reserve and banks including Ibanks. You could contact their placement office for details.

Thanks. Getting a good job is important to me, but reading recently about economics it sounds much more interesting to me.

Also consider that many with a business career will have an undergraduate major outside the business school at any college. You may change your major and should consider all of the academics, not just the business school.
