Economics vs Comp Sci (in terms of career prospects)

I am having trouble deciding if i want to major in comp sci or business/economics. I know that engineers typically make more money right out of college, but it seems that there are a lot more opportunities for career advancement in business/economics related careers (I might be wrong). So my question is, which major generally allows for higher career prospects and higher paying jobs? Specifically talking about a degree in each area from a school like stanford or berkeley, or a business/com sci combo at USC.

Any info on the topic would greatly help!

How about Econ and CompSci? If you can do that, its magical :D

Honestly though, choose the one you enjoy more. I'm not too sure about Econ majors, but as a CS major myself, I feel CS majors have the most options when it comes to opportunities after undergrad, or even during undergrad (internships).

anyone else?

Comp Sci probably offers the most after undergrad.

I agree that you should go for what you like. It's pretty obvious.

I'm a Biz Econ major and there's lots of options for you. I'd say it's better than an undergrad business/finance degree in the long run. I'm applying to lots of internships right now and I'm not left out in any industry. I got calls back from investment banks, investment managers, positions within corporations like Yahoo etc, public accounting, entertainment..so it's pretty open, just depends on you. And if you're going for an MBA later on, an Econ degree is great.

As far as salary right out of college, you should be making 40K on the low end and up to high 50s (plus bonus) depending on the industry

well, i like both just the same and can't really decide, so im looking into career prospects now. I would double major but i've heard that double majoring w/ engineering is very very difficult.

check out lehigh's computer science and business.

Computer Science is absolutely the highest pay major at this moment. lotz of cs fresh grad got over 75K+ in my school.

you may believe that you like both, but the course work differs so much that Id have to believe that you would make a decision after taking a few classes in each major.
