economics vs. government

I have been in a mental tug-of-war between which of the two majors to choose. I have a love for both subjects, but I can't seem to choose between the two as far as which is the better choice.

How do the two majors compare at UT?

opinions?

Have you taken Econ 420K and 420L yet?

Why not do both? They are both in the College of Liberal Arts, it wouldn’t take that much more work to double major. Instead of choosing one as you major and the other as your minor, chose them both.

econ + govt is a common major…

if you do both you will be well prepared for any job…

if you just do econ and take some govt electives (a sort of minor) you will also be fine…

if you like govt more you can still take econ electives (a sort of minor)

econ majors do tend to perform better on grad/professional school exams
