Economics

I took economics in high school and I really enjoyed it. I just want to know if majoring in Economics is a good major? Will it get me a good career? Does it pay well? Is there something I can also minor along with it. Help!!

Math or statistics goes with economics if you intend to go on to a PhD program in economics. Economics also relates to other social studies like sociology and psychology.

If you enjoyed it, definitely consider it as a major. Does the major itself lend to a good career? A solid college performance leads to a good career, not necessarily your major per se.

“Does it pay well?” Business type majors are generally good – but just as there is huge variety of jobs, there is huge variety in salary. You’re mistaken if you believe there is some linear relationship to Econ Majors and top salary.

BTW: I agree w/ucb. If you decide to go the business route, you can only enhance your credentials if you take deeper math and statistics. Many business/econ majors come out not understanding how much quantitative skills are vital to hiring managers.
